Deep cuts for Net Neutrality 🎶

Deep Cuts for Net Neutrality

YouTube gold for everyone.

Due to the net neutrality repeal, we are now realizing how much we have taken for granted. The free and expressive internet we grew up with is suddenly at risk of becoming another corporate ploy to make the rich richer, or in this case faster.

For years I have hoarded music video favorites, saving and collecting them like they were records, and since our accessibility to the internet as we know it is being questioned I decided to dust off this collection and put it up for the world to see. Enjoy.

SERGIO FACHELLI - HAY AMORES Y AMORES

I can’t get over how banging this track is. Sergio Fachelli probably used to completely destroy the scene in Uruguay. This recording of Hay Amores y Amores is totally warped and makes the track even steamier. Also they got a mime in the video, got to show respect for the mime feature.

:

FRANCK POURCEL - CONCORDE ALBUM

One thing that’s sure to disappear in the future is full album streams. This record is all instrumental heaters from the mid-70’s that sound vaguely similar to the score of Austin Powers. This is music for smoking cigarettes on airplanes.

:

SLEEP LIVE PERFORMANCE

This is from 1992, when they performed this I was 2 years old. I would’ve f*ckin’ hated this when I was 2 years old. Fast forward, SLEEP has been one of my favorite bands since high school. The VHS recording warp on this one makes it even better.

:

JAMAL - KEEP IT REAL

This song is “unfadeable.” Jamal’s tall ass beanie, also “unfadeable.” This is one of my favorite uses of the Kool & The Gang song Summer Madness, a classic that’s been sampled hundreds of times. Also this track is an Erick Sermon production, just overall gold.

:

LIL MAN GRIME FREESTYLE

I feel like I don’t even need to speak on this video. Lil Man is rabid. He’s better than most that are double his age. He’s must be about 12 years old yet he’s puffing zoot and rapping about sex. I mean this is a parent’s worst nightmare but he is undeniably talented.

:

P.O.D FEATURING KATY PERRY - GOODBYE FOR NOW

Ya’ll thought Katy Perry didn’t get down with P.O.D. but you thought wrong. Check out her back-up singer skills.

:

TAM HARROW FEATURING TOM HOOKER - INCREDIBLE

Only the finest Italo Disco straight out of Boston for you. The dancing in the beginning is super ominous. The highlight of this video is occasionally the scores from soccer games appear across the screen.

:

ISADAR - DREAM OF THE DEAD

This is a LA Cable Access legend. Shlohmo’s dad showed me this years ago, he recorded it off the tv. I reached out to Isadar when I was in college and told him how much I liked his music and he wrote me back an essay. The guy has hits.

:

MAC DRE FEATURING BIG LURCH - FIRE

The Original Pill Clinton, Mr. Thizzelle Washington himself: Mac Dre. Growing up I loved this song so much and didn’t realize who the featured artist, Big Lurch, was until later on. Lurch is famous for being 6’6” rapper from Texas, but he’s more famous for eating his roomate while high on PCP.

:

MARKIE D - I AM G

Whenever I feel down I throw on this Markie D track and I’m instantly uplifted. He has many cuts but this one takes the cake.

:

TEXTURE - POWER OF LOVE

They don’t make music or videos like this anymore, I don’t know why they would; this track has the weirdest energy ever. I am very bummed that I didn’t exist in a time where people actually played songs like this in clubs.

:

VIPER - I KILLED LIL WAYNE

Last but certainly not least, Viper. This guy has hundreds of songs on YouTube and is a bit of a mystery. He may have the best album/track titles I have ever head though, some of my favorites are You’ll Coward’s Don’t Even Smoke Crack, I Test my Crack to Sell the Best Crack, and Spaghetti.
