It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, not the winter holidays. It’s the last Monday in May; it’s Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial, official start to the summer. What was intended to be a somber day to honor and remember those members of the armed forces that our country has lost has turned into something else entirely. It’s the time of year for barbecues and beaches, sunburns and road trips.

It’s the time of year when Beyonce will give birth to not one, but two more heirs to the throne. You’re triumphantly pulling out the swimsuit that you longingly purchased in the dead of winter for this exact moment.You’re reconnecting with “friends” that have a house in The Hamptons or Malibu, perhaps just a “friend” that has a pool. Now is our chance to wear white (hurry, we only have until Labor Day). Speaking of which, could someone please advise if there does, in fact, exist a white piece of clothing that’s not see-through?

It’s around now that the fight for the title of  “song of the summer” becomes increasingly contentious.
