NY Art Book Fair 2016: the Top 5 Booths to Shop

The NY Art Book Fair has become a hub for global artists to flaunt and sell their creations. In its eleventh year, the event will have over 300 booths to peruse at MomaPS1 on September 16th and 17th. Having so many pieces to pick from is glorious, but also a bit overwhelming, which is why we’ve chosen the five tables we know you’ll love. Check it out:

1. Heavy Time

Zines make printing a book a collaborative and inclusive experience, which is probably why there are so many today.  No doubt there will be hundreds (or even thousands) to pick from at NYABF. Heavy Time, an artist collective focused on publications, will have a booth that will sell stunning zines that combine visual art and stories in partnership with other collectives like This Long Century and Printed Matter. What makes zines so special is that only a limited amount are produced, so fair-goers should hurry before the most coveted books sell out.

2. Upon Studio

Upon Studio transforms the ordinary into the not-so-ordinary by drawing inspiration from everyday subjects. their designs range from colorful abstract prints to spacecraft diagrams. Whether your thing is nature, culture, or modern technology, this booth will have something for you.

3. Klassic Kool Shoppe

Toronto-based artist Alicia Nauta is migrating south to join this year’s NYABF. While you would normally have to travel thousands of miles to try on graphic clothes and fun accordion books like these IRL, Alicia is bringing her Klassic Kool Shoppe to you. As a bonus, her booth will also have collages, fine art prints, pins, screen-printed wallpaper, installation, and more.

4. Applesauce Industries

Finding a great patch is like finding a needle in a haystack, but this SoCal collective will make your search easy. Applesauce Industries aims to please a diverse crowd and will have just the thing to personalize your jacket or backpack. Their booth includes original photography, watercolor, illustration, and much more.

5. Stephen Grebinski

We’re sure no one’s work will be like Stephen Grebinski at NYABF. Falling somewhere between documentary and performance, Stephen’s work will enlighten and maybe even turn you on. His graphic novels experiment with concepts such as desire, beauty, and eroticism.
