Reimagining Home Furniture with Heron Preston and NUOVA

Last month Basic Space and Cash App presented a weekend of workshops curated by Heron Preston at Miami Art Basel.  Wrapping up the weekend, Heron and design agency NUOVA hosted a session focusing on home furniture with recycled materials.

The concept was inspired by Enzo Mari’s Autoprogettazione project, which instead uses standardized off-the-shelf recycled corrugated aluminum to create an easily assemblable furniture piece. During Art Basel, the “Ready Made Stools” were created as limited edition seating pieces using these recycled rubber and polyurethane scrap materials from the automotive industry, which comes complete with a tension belt, and a graphic design manual that guides the user through the assembly of the piece.
