Viral Experiences: Yung Jake Is Re-Inventing Music Videos

When Yung Jake drops a music video, it’s guaranteed to be a viral experience you haven’t seen before. That’s why we picked our three favorite Yung Jake videos—each one moving the needle, much like Jake himself.

Both feat. Charlie Heat

When Yung Jake dropped his music video for “Both” featuring Charlie Heat in Fall 2015, he had Snapchat fans feeling some kind of way. To watch the video, you had to follow Yung Jake on Snapchat and get a friend to follow a second account he created. The video was shot on two iPhones with a split-screen, so when you pressed play at the same time as a friend and put your iPhones side-by-side, you got the full Yung Jake experience.

Look

Shooting the entire video on an iPhone, the video for “Look” is a whole lotta Yung Jake, in the best way possible. It features Jake riding with Jake, which only Jake could do. It was shot by Gabe of Uzi and with Yung Jake saying, “It was really fun, but a challenge to sync the cinematography with the song.”

e.m-bed.de/d/

Nominated for Best Interactive Music Video at the MTV O Music Awards, e.m-bed.de/d/ is an interactive HTML5 video providing satirical commentary on internet culture. The video features neon pop-ups, ever-growing video views, and Jake’s signature use of irony, making you remember there’s so much more to Yung Jake than meets the eye.
