Empowering Women That Shape Today’s Culture

In a time where following your passions, speaking your truth and pursuing your business ventures are valued, it’s only right that we take the time to praise the trailblazers that are leading the pack in creating their own success while helping others along the way. In celebration of International Women’s Day, which of course is notably everyday, we’re highlighting some of the most prominent women in the creative industry using their skills and resources to build their own empires and inspire young women around the world. From design to podcasts to music, these innovators have made their mark in their industries and continue to empower others to do the same.

Melina Matsoukas

Melina Matsoukas is an  American music video, film, commercial and television director. A two-time Grammy Award winner, Melina is best known for her role as visual architect for Beyonce’s 2016 surprise album, “Lemonade,” and directing the groundbreaking “Formation,” music video. Most recently, she is known for her directorial work on the film “Queen & Slim” which debuted at the end of 2019.

Lara Pia Baroncini

Pia Baroncini is the founder and creative director of the womenswear brand LPA. Pia combined her elegant taste, polished style, and short experience in design school to  establish her brand LPA – a womenswear brand made for girls who “shop at Forever 21 who can afford vacations to Mexico,” according to Elle Magazine. In addition to fashion, Pia has also dabbled in media with the launch of her podcast, Pia’s Pod. In the podcast, Pia interviews female entrepreneurs about their journey to success and the lessons they learned along the way.

Emily Oberg

Emily Oberg is an art director, brand consultant, editorial producer and the founder of brand Sporty & Rich. Named “streetwear’s Martha Stewart,” by SSENSE, Emily is known for her minimalist style and highly curated aesthetic. In addition to fashion, Emily has a passion and expertise for health and wellness. With her brand Sporty & Rich, Emily is able to combine two of her passions into one as she designs everyday apparel that emphasizes the importance of personal well-being.

Ganna Bogdan

Kiev, Ukraine native, Ganna Bogdan is a model, photographer, and multimedia artist based in Los Angeles, CA. Initially known from her appearance in Yeezy’s Calabasas campaign, Ganna has modeled for some of the biggest names in the fashion industry including Nike, Ssense, Herschel, Zara, RetroSuperFuture, and others. When she’s not in front of the camera, you can find Ganna behind the camera shooting, filming  and curating content for Vogue, Jordache and more. 

 

Tommy Genesis

Tommy Genesis is a rapper, visual artist, model and all around creative based in Los Angeles, CA. With her edgy, alternative rap flow and her eccentric style, Tommy brings a new, intriguing vibe and perspective to the hip hop world as a female emcee. Aside from music, Tommy also expresses through her illustrated  abstract charcoal paintings. With her bold personality and artistic energy, Tommy continues to push the boundary of what it means to be a powerful female entertainer in the music industry. 

Sami Miro

Sami Miro is a creative director, producer, model, stylist, designer, and founder of brand Sami Miro Vintage. Known for styling some of the hottest names in Hollywood like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, Sami quickly evolved from LA stylist to a vintage fashion pioneer. With her own brand, Sami Miro Vintage, Sami prides in discovering quality vintage pieces while advocating for sustainability in the fashion world.
