Yung Jake and Hannah Epstein Celebrate their Solo Exhibits with Steven Turner
LA was the place to be this past weekend for all the fine-art lovers and aficionados. Rounding up Art Week in the west coast, Frieze LA, Art Los Angeles Contemporary, Spring/Break, and the Felix Art Fair, took a bow for another successful year and gathered over 40,000 visitors within 4 days.
With hundreds of international exhibitors that commended art across the landscape of LA, we were able to take a closer glimpse at one in particular, the Steven Turner Gallery based in Hollywood. The gallery celebrated the opening exhibits for two artists, Yung Jake and Hannah Epstein, in which both carry a unique and playful aesthetic to their works.
Cartoons Too, the solo gallery from the works of Yung Jake, features a series of paintings, marking Jake’s return to this medium after nearly of decade of creating rap videos and digital collages. Carrying a sense of nostalgia and vibrantly displayed pieces, Hannah Epstein’s Making Bets in a Burning Room encapsules her works in the forms of handmade woven rugs in parallel with her digitally printed pieces. Displayed in two rooms, Hannah’s exhibition will swoon you into the atmosphere resembling the effects of a video-game dungeon.
We were able to enjoy an evening with the artists and Steven Turner to kick off the weekend and gallery openings. Thank you to Chateau Hanare, Maison Marcel, Peroni, and Jaja Tequila for the hospitality and libations throughout the evening.
