Heron Preston & Sami Miro’s “Natural Disasters”

As designers turn to look for what the next wave of fashion has in store, sustainability appears to be a common thread woven into each collection’s narrative. Designers Heron Preston and Sami Miro have stood at the forefront of the movement as the protagonists of this narrative .  The duo’s new hybrid-collection, “Natural Disasters” joins the values of Heron’s constant search to repurpose everyday materials with Sami’s mission to reclaim vintage clothing.

The SS20 collection, Natural Disasters, is coined after the prevalence of environmental damages caused by global warming, and built on the foundations of upcycling and sustainability. Bold silhouettes encapsule the collection: mesh bodysuits with a denim front, a black leather dress featuring a zip up front and side cut-outs, and washed denim sets into deconstructed silhouettes. Taken from Heron’s archive, recycled denim pieces are reconstructed with a contrasting selection of materials including silk and organza.  The garments contain Sami’s signature patchwork pieces that are subtly sprinkled throughout.
