Scott Turner’s Japanese Taxi Dream

Los Angeles-based photographer Scott Turner frequently travels to Japan. Frequently enough that his website often reads “I’m out finding new stories. Get notified when he’s back.” On his most recent trip he found himself fascinated with a new subject: the colorful taxis that crowd Tokyo. “If you’ve been to Tokyo,” he writes, “you know the special cab experience: drivers with white gloves, self opening and closing doors as well as the unique pastel colorway each one has.”

Turner has compiled 20 of these 120mm photographs into a zine, “Tokyo Taxi,” which he’s releasing at Commonwealth ( LA 2008 E. 7th St ) on 9/6. The release party will be going on from 7 to 10pm, so make sure to stop by and grab a copy.
