@LustforLife at Miami Art Week #2k17

Olivia Lopez of @LustForLife shares Miami Art Week #2k17 exclusives.

Last week Olivia was at Art Basel Miami Beach, watching the international art and design circuit descend on South Beach for a week of play and purchase.

She spent her time capturing some of the week’s most memorable moments, from Es Devlin’s immersive and surreal hotel room experience, to Studio Swine’s sweet smelling bubbles. Here are her highlights.

Design Miami

The interior design, satellite sister of Art Basel showcased Instagram-ready exhibitions from The Future Perfect to Fendi.

NADA

New Art Dealers Alliance is the alternative art fair of Art Basel, which showcases new and emerging talent at lower price points. The fair has a Brooklyn atmosphere, both in quirks and community.

Untitled Art Fair is one of the most promising young fairs with a carefully considered point of view. The fair sits on a scenic stretch of sand in South Beach overlooking the ocean. The light filled space showcases a balance of exhibitors that capture the cultural zeitgeist.

COS x Swine Studio

Tucked away from the chaos of Collins Avenue sits Temple House, the venue of COS x Studio Swine’s installation for Miami Art Week.

The Swedish fashion label teamed up with the multidisciplinary artist and architect duo Azusa Murakami and Alexander Groves on an installation entitled New Spring.

The exhibited invited viewers to engage with the installation, a structure that formed four fragrant bubbles that captured the topography of Miami, with notes of coconut, wood, fruit and lush greenery.

Room 2022 by Es Devlin

Installation artist and stage designer Es Devlin created an immersive experience at the Edition Hotels called Room 2022. Her experiential work took viewers through a series of sets, which began as a screening in a seemingly normal hotel room, then allowed viewers to enter through an array of doors that led to a maze of mirrors.

Devlin is known for her incredible work on Kanye West’s stage design as well as her Louis Vuitton runway shows, and mirror maze commissioned by Chanel in London.

Perez Art Museum

Thursday night kicked off a night at the museum at PAMM, the iconic Perez Art Museum overlooking Biscayne Bay. The event featured performances by Afrobeats musician Young Paris, music by heavy band Holly Hunt, and spoken word by poet Aja Monet.
