AAPE brings Japanese streetwear to LA

It all began in 1993 when a Tokyo-based fashion editor named Nigo created Bathing Ape (AKA BAPE). Little did he know that he would play a significant role in making Japanese style a global influencer. What was once compromised of self-manufactured t-shirts has now expanded to into mens, women’s, and kids lines carried throughout Japan as well as the US, UK, Hong Kong, China, and beyond. Then in 2012, AAPE was born.

AAPE is Bathing Ape’s little brother, but the menswear line is all grown up now. The Japanese streetwear up-and-comer now has its own US flagship store in LA. It’s grand opening made for a great excuse to throw a party. Guests like Lil Yachty, Teyana Taylor, 6lack, and Kreayshawn ventured to Fairfax Avenue to experience the sleek silver-plated brick-and-mortar and preview the exclusive LA collection. See what you missed below.
