Jacquemus takes us to La Rivera for SS19

PHOTOS AND WORDS BY : OLIVIA LOPEZ

Fashion week kicked off with the highly anticipated Jacquemus show, who for the past few seasons has secured a seat to be the “it” designer for statement summer pieces. For Spring Summer 19, he transported his notable influencer heavy guest list to La Riviera at the garden inside the Italian Embassy, where glasses of Prosecco were generously poured just moments before the last light of setting sun prompted the start of the show.

While his previous collections have been consistent with repeating prints and patterns as well as a largely monochromatic color palette, La Riviera was anything but similar to his last few seasons.  A single, flaming violet blazer sailed past a sea of pale smocks, while the handbags were either comically oversized or undersized, halter tops reserved for the club wear section at Wet Seal rather than the typical, fantasy film wardrobe that the Riviera typically eludes was the central theme of the show.

Still, the Jacquemus girl stays true to her root by being the life of the party. The clothes were bold and daring. The heels were anything but conventional. The casting called were inclusive in their efforts, showing women of all colors, tanned and toned exuding the sex appeal and confidence necessary in bare-it-all clothing.
