Gosha Rubchinskiy’s Influence in Streetwear

Once upon a time, sweatshirts and sweat pants were shunned by the elite fashion in-crowd. They were considered pedestrian. Polo shirts were strictly for the golf course. Skate shoes were for the skate park. And then true individuality started expanding its influence on the fashion scene. There were only so many times that fall could mean turtlenecks, winter could mean wool, and spring could mean florals. How was the high-fashion industry going to reinvent itself? How were they going to make themselves relevant again?

Streetwear. Oversized, comfy, and graphic are cooler than ever before and it doesn’t seem like the trend is slowing down anytime soon. Earlier this year, Louis Vuitton collaborated with with street staple Supreme and Balenciaga now sells baseball caps decorated with its logo.

But besides old school designers trying to revive themselves by merging high-end with the low-end, there are a few new designer names completely dedicated to the movement and they’re emerging on fashion week’s runways and front rows. Here are just a few fresh designer brands with street smarts:
